Hatha yoga is the practice of asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation. It is a practice that cultivates cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility. Practiced regularly, it can calm the mind, and increase relaxation and focus. Our yoga is eclectic, drawn from a variety of teachers and styles, and classes are based on the levels of the participants. Studio Sabai offers drop in classes, and private sessions for individuals and small groups.
- Drop-in Classes ~ Studio Sabai yoga classes that are available on a drop-in basis, meaning no registration is required. - Yoga Class Series and Workshops ~ Some classes are offered by pre-registration only, and may go for 6 to 8 weeks at a time. Classes and workshops will generally focus a particular topic within yoga. Check the schedule for current classes.
- Private Sessions ~ Private yoga sessions can be custom designed for one person, or a small group of people. These sessions will be designed around your particular needs, and arranged with you to fit nicely into your schedule. This is a good option if you have needs or concerns you would like help with prior to participating in a larger class.
- Can I do Yoga if I'm not Flexible? ~ Yes, absolutely! Yoga is a practice that you begin exactly where you are. A person who is very flexible will look different in the pose than one who is less flexible, but at the edge of their ability, both people get the same benefit. This is a personal practice that encourages connection with yourself, and a healthy relationship with your body.
- What if I can't get up and down off the floor? ~ Modifications are always available. Chairs, blocks, and blankets are among some of the props that can be used. It is not important what your pose looks like... what is important is the focus and attention given to yourself exactly where you are. The more you practice, the more your abilities will change.
